Death and Retirement
Death and Retirement
The ruling on this is simple. This is a shared sandbox, and in that spirit you are permitted to carry over as much or as little XP as you wish upon creating a new character. For Character Death, this is always permitted, for retirement you can do it 1/Story. You can also later revisit a retired character, provided they would reasonably still be playable, keeping the same earned XP value when you return to them.*
Nitty-Gritty
Ok, it sounds simple. But the devil is in the details. Here they are.
- Spent XP remains spent. If you buy Blood Potency 2, retire the character, and return to it later, you cannot reassign that spent XP.
- Of course, as always, we are flexible about reworks if there was a genuine mistake.
- If you don't want some or all of your XP, you can either BANK some of it for your next character, or at any time you can spend BANKed XP to either create Sworn or False beats for the organizations, as a product of your legacy. 1XP becomes 1 beat.
- You can use this to adjust the overall tone of the server! The more beats the Sworn have, the more happy-go-lucky things will be. The more beats the False have, the darker things will become… The two are not mutually exclusive, either.
- Characters should not interact. If you control 2 characters (and one of them is a PC), either as a PC or an ST, you should avoid them interacting in any meaningful manner.
- They can reference eachother's existence, even express opinions, but they certainly cannot aid or harm one another, directly communicate with one another, or anything of the sort. This is relevant because…
- Retired characters can still post in weird_onion.
- Honestly, I just like when y'all shitpost in there, and I'll do anything to see more of it. Could lead to some fun nostalgia one day too. We'll see.
